A review of "Sharp Objects" on MAX
After suffering through seven sultry, alcoholic, drug-induced episodes of "Sharp Objects" on Max, we were totally disappointed by the eighth episode's "shocker" flash-bang ending, which came in millisecond blips AFTER the credits. If I had not been a "credit watcher," I'd have missed the whole thing.
Admittedly, I did not read the novel, sorry.
Regardless, I say a very loud boo to this type of ending. Like many viewers, I wanted to know more about the motive, method, and resolution.

However, the series itself was worth watching. Amazing acting all the way around, and kudos to the production team. The town itself was a character, and the house, oh, the house was truly a star. But after sweating through a summer with these effed up people, you'd like to have, ya know, a resolution. Stream only if you want to suffer for your art.
Vanity Fair Explains it All
If you're like me and need an explanation on the whys of this production, Vanity Fair has an in-depth article about it—WITH SPOILERS—although the article reaffirms to me why TV dramas and films are not as good as they used to be. There's too much influence by the so-called show-runners (producers) and not enough influence by the storytellers, aka, writers. Of course, I'm prejudiced, but Hollywood needs to bring back great writing, please.
