A year ago, Bill and I bought a bottle of Dom Perignon to celebrate some BIG MOMENT, if/when it came...kind of like waiting for Godot. We stored the classy champagne box on its side in the beverage frig. But then I read that Dom Perignon should be storied upright, not horizontally.
Trouble was, the box wouldn't fit vertically in our frig, so I took the bottle out and stood it upright.
On Thanksgiving Day, my darling husband—not realizing what he was doing—put the bottle of Dom in the bucket along with our ordinary bubbly offerings, like good ol' Korbel Brut. So, while I made the gravy and drank Korbel, somebody drank the Dom. And I'm still waiting for Godot.
